If you’re hesitant to live outside of the city, don’t worry if you’re going to be living in Plano! This city literally has everything you need because it’s massive, and it’s also beautiful. There’s East, West, and Central Plano, and they all have as much character as the Dallas neighborhoods! Shopping is pretty big in the city, so you’ve got options from Willow Bend Mall to Shops at Legacy. Suggestions for eating (our favorite pastime): Mexican Sugar and Whiskey Cake. Y-U-M. Just check them Yelp reviews; we don’t play with anything less than four stars. There’s a great number of companies flocking to DFW, and Plano is one of the cities people most like to set up camp in. There is plenty to do and see in this trendy Dallas neighborhood! Lakewood Theater is one of our favorites, which shows classic films and hosts many contemporary musical and comedy events. Also, you can check out the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Here you can see the beautifully landscaped gardens and enjoy the Thursday live music concert series! They are always holding family friendly events in a gorgeous natural setting. One of the major Lakewood highlights is the huge Fourth of July parade and celebration, where everyone gathers to celebrate America’s Independence Day. Also, you have White Rock Lake nearby, where you can kayak or standup paddle board. The White Rock Lake Trail is one of the most prominent in Dallas, where plenty of people go to jog or walk around the lake for their daily exercise or a nice stroll at sunset. Organic grocery shopping comes easy with Lakewood’s own Whole Foods Market. And check out nearby Times Ten Cellars for a great wine bar where you can sample different wines each week. Then head over to Curiosities, a antique store where you can find anything from one-of-a-kind trinkets to large captain trunks from the 1800’s. Definitely a unique experience in the heart of Lakewood’s shopping! People are moving from the city to find more affordable areas and brand new apartments in McKinney and Allen are popping up everywhere. We’ll be real with you: the McKinney/Allen area is not-so-secretly referred to as ‘Oklahoma’ by those in the city. Don’t believe anyone who tells you that you can get from McKinney to downtown in 30 minutes. You can’t, haha. So what is there to do here? There’s a mall, of course, and your usual suspects in the ‘burbs (i.e. Target, Walmart, Michael’s). But there are cool things to do, too! There’s a cute cafe – Snug on the Square in McKinney that Yelpers favor. Also in McKinney is Landon Winery – easily worth a visit. A wine tasting is never a waste of time! In Allen, there’s Mio Nonno for good Italian eats. Fun fact about Allen: there’s a rugby team. For serious, they’re known as Griffins Rugby and they’re kind of a big deal. If you’re looking for apartments in McKinney/Allen, Smart City Apartment Locating can definitely help. We know all the best spots to call home!
