By | Apartments, Bishop Arts, Dallas, Downtown, Drinks, entertainment, Food, Knox Henderson, Lower Greenville, Uptown

Hey guys! It’s Lily and Kara from Dallasites101! We are super excited to announce that we will be working with Smart City Apartment Locating to put out a new blog every month in an effort to get you even more connected with the Big D! To kick it off, we want to take you around to our go-to spots. These are the places that have been longtime favorites, even before Dallasites101 existed, and the spots that we always take an out-of-town guest who’s never been to Dallas. So what are they? Let’s find out! EL COME TACO This hole-in-the-wall taco spot was one of the first places we ever tried tacos in Dallas, and it has stuck with us for five years now. It’s centrally located on Fitzhugh and pumps out some of the best authentic street tacos in Dallas! Make sure to order the Pollo a la Mexicana. THE RUSTIC We love taking out-of-towners to the Rustic – it’s the best taste of what people not from Texas, think of Texas, that you can find right in the heart of Dallas. You get your live music, your Texas decor and your massive patio bar fix, all in one spot! KATY TRAIL ICE HOUSE Katy Trail Ice House was probably the first place we ever heard about when moving to Dallas. We were told we “had to go” and we of course, came to find out it is the quintessential patio bar and gathering place for happy hours, big sporting…

Our Favorite Places To Eat In Bishop Arts!

By | Bishop Arts, Dallas, Food

We’ve told you that Bishop Arts is one of the hottest new places on the scene to lease an apartment. Now, we want to tell you our personal favorite places to grab a bite to eat in this popular Dallas neighborhood. The first freeze is reportedly coming to Dallas this weekend, but we guarantee these fine establishments are a lovely reason to brave the cold and leave your apartment. Hattie’s Sure to impress any guest you have in town or for a refined break from the $10 bottomless mimosa charade in Uptown, this will be a nice change of pace. American bistro with Southern low-country that will have you missing your super conservative Grandma’s cooking, because damn can that woman whip up a feast. Boulevardier Don’t be intimidated by the bougie-sounding name, this place is amazing. Farm-to-table at it’s 214 finest with menu items like Crawfish Beignets with smoked pimenton aioli. Stop convincing yourself that the poached eggs you made at home even hold a candle to this stuff. Put on a scarf and go outside of your apartment. Tillman’s Roadhouse Odds are, you’ve seen a Snapchat from one of your friends in Dallas from this restaurant because this is the place that has tableside smores! *Cue flashback from The Sandlot about having more smores* Super approachable with their come-as-you-are feel and their warm southern cooking, this is sure to become a new neighborhood favorite when you live in Bishop Arts. VH Oak Cliff Incredibly intimate setting with spectacular cuisine…

Why Bishop Arts Is Becoming The Next Best Place To Live In Dallas!

By | Bishop Arts, Dallas

If you have any interest in good food and good vibes, you have probably heard of the Bishop Arts District. In case you haven’t heard of it though, it’s an adorable compilation of shops and restaurants just 3 miles Southwest of downtown. It’s the perfect place to take your parents when they come into town and a great place to venture out for new eats when you’re usual places become a little tired. Except venturing out to Bishop Arts will have you dumbfounded as to why this neighborhood wasn’t your go-to spot in the first place! Each weekend, people swarm to Jonathan’s, Oddfellows, Lockhart, Hattie’s and every other place up there that whips up one hell of a brunch. And all of us have been subject to the draw of Emporium Pies. But we want to tell you about the reasons to live here that don’t involve chicken and waffles or the most addicting pies we’ve ever had. Living on this side of downtown means you can easily hop onto the highway and head to Fort Worth if you’re one of those who can’t decide between Dallas and Fort Worth. Or perhaps your parents live in the ‘burbs and you head over there for Sunday dinner here and there, signing a lease at a Bishop Arts apartment means you shave a good amount of time out of your drive because you’re right there! Another thing we love about Bishop Arts apartments, is the downtown views! Only so many apartments…
