The Dallasites101 Guide to Apartment Pools In Dallas

By | Uncategorized

We’re big fans of Dallas and the summertime is no exception, but some days we need a break from this heat! So, who has a pool that we can come jump in?! Seriously though — we did our homework and discovered the best apartment pools in Dallas. Check out the list and then hit up your friends (and their friends) to figure out who lives somewhere with an awesome pool! And don’t forget to protect your skin from the sun! Follain on Knox is our favorite for natural clean beauty products including sun care. We personally lather up in the tinted facial moisturizer by Raw Elements. The Hudson Photo courtesy of @thehudsonaptstx The Hudson Dallas Apartments, new luxury living in Knox, has caught our attention! We’re sort of feeling jealous that we aren’t in the market for a new apartment because The Hudson is very tempting! The amenities are a big selling point, with the elevated pool set on a deck that features a covered outdoor entertaining kitchen, fire pits, and grills. The other major amenity? A sky lounge with a kitchen and wine room, as well as outdoor patio.  Visit the pool at this hot new property sporting the hottest swimwear, from Chubbies on Henderson Avenue.    Ascent  Photo courtesy of Ascent Victory Park The Ascent Victory Park’s pool is special because you can go for a swim while surrounded by high-rises and truly, smack-dab in the middle of Dallas. Right across the street is the American Airlines Center,…

The Reveal – Smart City x Dwell With Dignity Home Renovation For Local Family

By | Uncategorized

In April, we embarked on a quarter-long journey with Dwell With Dignity, a non-profit who’s work so closely compliments our mission to connect people with the space to be themselves! Focused on designing and furnishing safe, functional homes for families recently removed from homelessness, Dwell With Dignity’s cause seemed almost a direct extension of our own. Completed living room renovations What we accomplished together During the second quarter of the year, Smart City made a pledge to donate $2.50 for every apartment home we helped our clients lease. So, if you worked with a Smart City agent and leased in April, May or June, the final product you see in this blog is because of YOU! We saw great momentum as pledges started rolling in so early in the project. So much so that we aimed to surpass our original goal and try to raise enough money to fund two home renovations, which costs around $10,000. We set our sights high and, though we didn’t make two renovations happen this quarter, we contributed to the gifting of a healthy space for a domestic abuse survivor and her son to call home. The additional funds we raised in an attempt to furnish two apartments, were given directly to the sponsored family to further support them in their transition! A week prior to the final donation hand-off and new home reveal, we shut down our Dallas office and took time off to volunteer at the Dwell With Dignity warehouse putting things together, sorting…

Master Guide to Baby-Proofing Your Apartment

By | Uncategorized

Congratulations on becoming a parent (to more than a fur baby)! Let’s be honest, kids are some of the sneakiest humans out there – they’ll touch, pull, open, smash, climb, _______ (insert verb) anything. Here’s a room-by-room guide to child-proof your apartment so those small humans stay safe while they’re doing all their “exploring.” First things first: the bedroom (yours and theirs) The main key to safety-proofing a bedroom is securing furniture and electronics. Use a few anchors or brackets to connect things like your dresser, night stand, bookshelf, photos or television so they don’t topple over for any reason. If you have a baby crib in the apartment, anchor it to a wall and double-check that the slats along the bottom are only six centimeters apart so that your small human doesn’t get their little head stuck anywhere it’s not supposed to be. Experts also suggest keeping the crib free of small toys, stuffed animals and blankets so that nothing causes hazards to their ability to breath. Windows Make sure your windows have screens on the outside and only open about three inches. Those little schemers are master contortionists and can fit in the smallest spaces. If that’s not an option, window guards are a great way to make sure the windows aren’t easily budged when they are open. When it comes to blinds that have loose cords, keep the hanging tassels as short as possible so there’s way less risk of those getting caught on a child’s neck…

Where to Celebrate the Fourth of July in Austin, Houston and Dallas

By | Dallas

When you stop to think about it, there isn’t another holiday like Independence Day. Rather than exchanging gifts, caroling or gathering for elaborate meals, Americans throughout the country let their hair down and, to put it honestly, party hearty. If you question whether Americans enjoy having fun on the Fourth of July, consider the following: The Fourth of July is the holiday during which Americans drink the most beer, with beer sales exceeding $1 billion in 2017. Adults in the U.S. spend more than $568 million on wine in celebration of the Fourth of July. About 16,000 formal fireworks displays are held in the United States on July 4, not including unofficial, “backyard” displays. Americans spend more than $825 million on fireworks for the Fourth of July. Americans consume around 150 million hot dogs during the Fourth of July weekend every year. They also spend an approximate total of $6.9 billion on food for Independence Day. About 62 percent of Americans will participate in a picnic to celebrate the Fourth of July. With so much partying to do this July, you won’t want to miss out on the action. Luckily, we’ve compiled a list of the best Fourth of July celebrations across the Lone Star State in 2019. Fourth of July Celebrations in Austin While tens of millions of people usually travel at least 50 miles from home over the Fourth of July weekend, you don’t need to follow their lead. That’s because there’s plenty to do in and around…

Dog-friendly neighborhoods in Dallas

By | Dallas, Dog Park, Drinks

Fun fact: Dallas is home to more than 600,000 cats and dogs! We knew when we moved here, that Dallas was a pet-friendly city, but that number is crazy given that our population in Dallas is about double that. So essentially, every other person in the city owns a pet! Dog owners are a special breed of pet parent. They love showing off pictures and bringing their companion on all kinds of outdoor adventures, but finding a place to live that allows dogs, isn’t as easy as finding a beer garden that does! So, if you’re new here or need some help deciding where to settle down and explore with your furry friend, we have the hook up on the most dog-friendly areas in the Dallas area! WEST VILLAGE West Village takes the top spot for one main reason: Mutt’s Canine Cantina. Mutt’s is both a bar and a beautiful dog park, that has both a small dog and big dog park, so your dog is safe to play with others his or her own size! And you can grab a cold one and hang by the yellow picnic tables and socialize will you wait for your dog to release every ounce of energy. Or mix it up from Mutt’s and hang at the outdoor patio of Village Burger Bar or Mi Cocina. Apartment recommendation: The One Oak Grove is right across the street from Mutt’s and comes with its own mini dog park area and a full dog wash…

Q&A with Smart City Founder and CEO, Cassie Brown

By | Uncategorized

If you’ve ever come to a Smart City function, chances are you’ve seen our fearless leader, Cassie Brown, climb onto a table and give a speech so encouraging and genuine that you left with goosebumps and feeling more inspired than you thought possible; after all, she is the ultimate hype-(wo)man! But if you haven’t seen it in person, we thought you still deserved to get a glimpse of Cassie’s passion and what makes her a small business champion/real estate disrupter. So, we pulled her into a room and asked her all kinds of questions. Grab a snack and check out how the conversation went! Just going to jump right in–what gets you out of bed in the morning? The people I work with and the purpose of the company! I get excited that I don’t have to wake up and be somebody else or put a suit and tie on and be anything but me. I get to come to work as myself, hang out with people that I really like hanging out with and solve really cool business problems–my brain gets to work all day. So your eyes open in the morning and you think, “Yes! Problem solving”? Most days, yeah! I love going to work. Honestly, any job will have bad days. There are some days where I think I’m not suited for this. But it was a transition. I didn’t just wake up one day and become the CEO of a 20 million dollar company. It’s been…
