Central Austin apartments are the perfect solution for anyone who wants to enjoy the unique attitude of Austin! Known as “The Live Music Capital of the World,” Austin, Texas has music day and night, weekdays and weekends, and hours of it, all over downtown. Most people know 6th Street as the strolling around venue for finding almost any kind of live music at the aforementioned times. It is not far from the Warehouse and Market Districts, or the Red River District, where the same holds true.
If outdoor activity is the choice of the day, Lady Bird Lake in the center of town is a nice diversion. There is a 10.1-mile hiking/biking trail around the lake. The Stevie Ray Vaughn Monument is on the banks of the lake, too. Zilker Park, close by, has the cold, spring-fed Barton Springs Pool for whoever can tolerate the 68-71 degree temperatures of the water. Zilker Park is just across the river from downtown.
Food is plentiful in central Austin, to say the least. Don’t blink, because one of the many eating spots might escape notice. Barbecue is essential in Austin, of course, and not to be missed. Ethnic places are definitely close by, and the lack of fast food is a huge relief. Do not overlook the food trucks and carts. There are palate-pleasing morsels in these vehicles that will fulfill your food dreams.
The soundstage of Austin City Limits Live, the television show, is downtown at the University of Texas Communications Building, sixth floor. Admission for a tour of the soundstage is $8.00 and cameras are allowed as well as photos on-stage. It is at the intersection of Dean Keaton and Guadalupe.
What trip to Austin would be complete without the nightly dusk-time event of the summer? The one million or so bats that live under and around the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge swarm out to feed, for about 45 minutes, before they are out of sight. It is the largest urban bat colony in North America, and it consumes up to 30,000 pounds of insects for Austin. This phenomenon has been on various travel shows on television, it is so amazing. Long live the “weird” that is Austin, Texas. It is worth a trip and then some.
Most apartments in the Central area are a little older but have that funky and vintage feel, so if you’re into that and love being close to everything, this spot is definitely for you!
