Remember the olden times when if we wanted to see a movie it had to either be the regular ol’ theater or the tacky theater that serves beer for like $13 a pop? Then the ATX gods gave us Alamo Drafthouse, and all was well in the movie-watching world. We’ve all been hearing the chatter about Alamo Drafthouse coming to South Dallas, but we’re here to tell you about every other reason that South Dallas is about to be the best place to call home.
Let’s start by talking about what’s already there. If you haven’t had Cedars Social brunch, you haven’t really lived. $10 bottomless mimosas is enough to get us up out of bed and their food is amaaaazing. Imagine having an apartment across the street from this fine brunch delicacy, how priceless of an amenity? Cedars Social won the Best Brunch spot in Dallas Observer’s Best of Dallas 2015, and South Dallas snagged a ton of awards across the board.
Gilley’s is another classic to walk to from your apartment in South Dallas for live music! This is a really cool event space that proves the whole everything’s bigger in Texas thing. Gilley’s is literally massive. Chances are, one of your favorite indie bands will play here at South Side Ballroom over the course of your lease or your company will have some sort of corporate event here. If you’re lucky, their neighbors at Full Circle Tavern will cater the event. Literally, the best bacon that exists in this world can be found at Full Circle Tavern so leave the store-bought bacon in your apartment. Trust us on this one.
One of our favorite apartments to show our clients is in South Dallas. Super old building that has been refurbished into a loft? Sign. Us. Up. INSANE square footage, original hardwood or concrete floors, exposed brick, vents, ducts and all of that jazz. Some of the units even have some of the original elevator shafts from when it used to be a warehouse! Gigantic ceilings, pillars throughout your loft, and almost 100 different floorplans to choose from! Watching people fall in love with these lofts is one of our favorite things.
We’re excited to see all of the new developments coming to South Dallas because it is definitely time for Dallas to branch out of the neighborhoods we all know about. Obviously, one of the new additions to South Dallas that we are most excited about is the brand new apartments called Southside Flats! Ready for move-ins January 5th and they’re already pre-leasing!
