Staycations Are So In
Just because summer is ending doesn’t mean all that R&R has to! A staycation is the best option for those of us who really don’t have the time to take off for a trip to the Bahamas, but still need to hang on to those island vibes just a little bit longer. Thankfully, Austin is poppin’ and not short of some prime spots to unwind. Here are our favorite staycation spots in ATX!
If you are looking to get that V.I.P., Kardashian-West style treatment on your staycation, look into staying at Travaasa. It isn’t the cheapest staycation, but it’s dope. You can have chef-prepared meals daily, access to the most lux spa, and have sooo many activities that your brain will explode — there’s bull riding, yoga, hatchet throwing, cooking classes, life coaching, and MORE. Seriously, LIFE COACHING. So get your ish together and visit Travaasa.
LONE STAR COURT
Character — that’s the big word in Austin. If Travaasa was a little too hoity toity for you, then Lone Star Court may be up to your speed! The rooms are cute and colorful, with dope sliding barn doors, and the hotel transports you around in fabulous vintage cars. There’s a unique outdoor courtyard that you can roast smores at, or enjoy live music, and all other sorts of glamping action. You’ll be guaranteed to feel like a fancy cowboy here.
Let’s take it about 45 minutes outside of Austin and have a mini-road trip vacation. Wimberley is a super artsy town. There are a ton of impressive art galleries, as well as a monthly market that showcases a ton of music, food, and (duh) art! And one of our fav things to do there is visit the olive oil farm. YES, olive oil. AND a winery. This is like an escape to Italy for a huge fraction of the time and money.
Summer is winding down, so peach season is fading out, but there are plenty of sweet things to do in Fredricksburg! If you’re one of those craft beer fans, you’ll want to hit up the Fredricksburg Brewing Company — and to make things even cooler, it’s a Bed & Brew, and you’ll get four free samples of beer for staying in one of the rooms! On days you aren’t really feeling the brewery, you can go out and climb some of the awesome rock formations or visit Enchanted Rock, a giant pink dome of granite. Mother Earth, bruh. So cool.
