Holiday Lights all over DFW
It’s the most wonderful time of the year and all over Dallas holiday lights are shining bright! This puts us in the mood so we decided to spread the news. Some of these are totally FREE and we love free things (obviously… we are free). Whether you need a simple date night idea or something fun for the whole family, jump in the car and go enjoy an evening out on the town!
If your looking for a beautiful light show in the Grapevine area, head over to the Magic of Christmas Light Show Spectacular! It’s a 20 minute light display that features millions of lights. Once you’re done you can walk the streets and enjoy the beautiful decorations that the town has put up! Don’t miss it from November 22nd – January 8th, 6 – 11pm. Another event in Grapevine is the Parade of Lights, which is on December 1st!
Don’t miss the beautifully decorate homes and streets in Highland Park. They have professionally done housing displays around Preston and Armstrong! It’s not just the lights, but the houses that make this neighborhood such a sight to see! These decorations last for the rest of December and it’s totally free.
Texas Motor Speedway
Now through December 30th the Texas Motor Speedway is the home to about 2 million lights on display! You can drive through any evening from 6 – 10pm. They also have a spot to stop and take a photo with Santa! It’s $25 a car but if you donate a new toy to Toys for Tots at the gate you get $5 off!
Head over to Galleria to spend an afternoon skating around the ice rink or to take pictures with Santa!! Throughout the holiday season there are multiple events happening here. The biggest is the Macy’s Grand Tree Lighting Celebration on December 17th at 6pm. Galleria’s tree is one of the tallest indoor trees in America and has hundreds of thousands of lights!
The Farmers Branch area goes all out this time of year and creates a candy-cane route that starts at Valley View Lane and 35E! You’ll enjoy thousands of lights twinkling all around as you make your way to the Farmers Branch Historical Park. Once you’re at the park you’ll find Santa and a beautiful light show to end the evening! The lights run every evening until December 30th from 6:30 – 9:30pm.
Frisco Square is home to nearly 200,000 lights this time of year! Until January 1, you can go and skate on the outdoor ice rink while enjoying lights all around. If you aren’t into the skating thing you can still go and enjoy all of the decorations while walking around. The skating is $10 per person and walking around is obviously free! On December 17th they are having a special event with lots of holiday extras!
We decided to finish with one of Dallas’ best holiday experiences! The 12 Days of Christmas at the Dallas Arboretum is such a wonderful holiday event. According to Southern Living Magazine, it is one of “The South’s Best Holiday Experiences”. They put on an incredible outdoor exhibit that everyone can enjoy. Tickets and times vary, so check out their website for more info!
