Dallas Studio Apartment Guide

by Audrey Swanson

People always dis studios and we don’t get it. Sure, they’re typically less spacious units, and your kitchen and bed might have to be situated a little bit close to each other, but for a kickass professional with lots going on in their life, studios are the effing best. What you sacrifice in square footage, you make up for in saved money from lower rent and cheap utility bills that you can put toward savings. Just kidding, you can put it toward more dinners out and getting all your friends drinks at the bar.

But seriously, with a little smart interior design, you’ll still have all the space you need for your belongings. We’ve even put together a little helper for learning to maximize your space in a studio with all kinds of tips and tricks for decorating a smaller area. Studios become all the more desirable with an open mind, and our picks of these luxury units  in the Dallas area offer cozy yet upscale living spaces designed for both comfort and convenience. And they’re all under $1K per month for rent. Score.

1) Lake Highlands – $799/mo (In Town Housing Program pricing) or $977/mo (if tenant doesn’t qualify for In Town) for 518 square feet

Built brand new last year, this northern Dallas property has stunning amenities and a killer location (close to both White Rock Lake and central Dallas fun). This unit is on the larger side, considering studio square footage, and a half wall divides the bedroom from the living space and kitchen. To get the In Town price, you just need to make between $31-38K per year!

2) Deep Ellum – $860/mo for 488 square feet

Here, you’ll get another fantastic location and beautiful property with high-end finish-outs, like included in-unit washer and dryer (for no extra cost), faux wood flooring, and granite countertops. Be within walking distance to Deep Ellum bars and restaurants (oh hey, Cane Rosso) and a two minute drive from both downtown and uptown.

3) University Park – $968/mo for 494 square feet

This sustainable, eco-friendly property is situated right above some of Dallas’ most delicious and fun eateries and pubs. It doesn’t get much better than taking a four second elevator ride to get a couple tacos. Right off Central Expressway, the luxury community has tons to offer, such as quick access to D-Town destinations like Mockingbird Station, Lower Greenville, and the West Village.

4) Oak Lawn – $969/mo for 567 square feet

This property is so new, it’ll feel like your studio was built yesterday. Doesn’t it sound nice to be the first one to take a bath in your tub and cook on your stove? And don’t forget your furry friend; you’ll have plenty of space for him in this more generous square-footage unit. The property also has an onsite dog park and is in close proximity to more parks and walking trails.

5) Medical District – $969/mo for 482 square feet

Your space here is a little more intimate, but badass apartment features will surely make up for the close quarters. Built a year ago using recycled parts of buildings, the historical finished product has been re-imagined for today’s modern needs. In unit, you’ll find a gourmet kitchen (complete with stainless appliances and granite counters), stained wood custom cabinetry, and a private patio.
