Cozy Bars in Austin to Visit When It’s Just Too Cold Outside
While we typically don’t have to worry about snow or ice here in Austin, we do have to prepare for the few weeks of cold weather that winter brings! Frigid temps shouldn’t keep you locked up inside all day, there’s still tons of things to enjoy in Austin when the weather isn’t ideal. Here’s a few of our favorite cozy bars to visit to cure your winter blues!
Halcyon coffee bar and lounge:
Coffee shop by day, bar by night- this spot is perfect for chillin’ at any time of the day! Cozy up on one of their comfortable couches with a delicious coffee, cocktail, or snack! Seriously this place is perfect for dates, friend hang outs, or even just enjoying a cup of coffee alone- especially when it’s cold outside. We suggest ordering the s’mores, because who doesn’t love toasty s’mores on a cold day?! The Long Island Iced Coffee and the Insomniac are some of our fav cocktails and the food is awesome too if you go for lunch/dinner.
Located on Rainey Street, this awesome bar has gorgeous floor-to-ceiling wood walls, giving the interior very lodgy feel. If you want to escape the city vibe, but don’t feel like driving all the way to Colorado or another lodge-like destination, this is the bar for you! Enjoy a staycation right on Rainey Street! Clive Bar serves unique cocktails, beer, wine, and often have live music! The perf place to get out of the house, but also out of the cold!
A true Austin original, Ego’s bar is located in the middle of a parking garage and is one of Austin’s most popular karaoke bars! Everyone loves a good karaoke night, but free karaoke is even better!! Ego’s has free karaoke every night of the week from 9pm until 2am, and It’s getting cold outside, so work up a sweat shakin’ your booty on the dance floor and signing your little heart out. Drinking + karaoke + dancing = a good time for everyone.
Ranch 616 has possibly come up with one of the most spectacular cold cocktails EVER- The Holidazed (And Confused). Made with Casamigos Blanco tequila, 1921 Crema de Tequila, RumChata, Kahlua, and Chameleon mocha cold-brew, topped with mint bitters, whip cream, nutmeg and crushed peppermint, this drink is seriously to die for. Plus the popular South Texas Icehouse also serves delicious lunch, dinner, and other handcrafted cocktails!
The Golden Goose has a very vintage vibe from the moment you walk in. Dim lighting, neon signs, shuffleboard, jukebox, and even a stage for live performances, gives this bar an old-school feel, plus the handcrafted cocktails are affordable and delicious! Try the Pickle Drip- Dripping Springs Vodka and pickle juice served martini style! Dim lighting and comfy seating makes this spot great for romantic winter dates.
